The Technical Support Project to Nicaragua or TecNICA matches projects in Nicaragua with specialists in the United States
ranging from computer programmers to machinists. The project was set up to help fill the gaps created when Nicaragua's trained
personnel left the country after the Sandinista Revolution in 1979. The project was started in the San Francisco Bay Area
as "an experiment in people-to-people diplomacy."
